Bonagota salubricola (Meyrick, 1931) - (Brazilian apple leafroller)
This leafroller is an important pest of apple in southern Brazil and Uruguay. The larvae damage the fruit surface and the leaves. It apparently has adapted to apple, to other fruit trees like pear or plum as well as to grapevine after the introduction of these crops into South America. Native hosts are plants like Lonicera, Erythrina and Ligustrum. On apple, mainly the surface of the fruits is damaged. On grapevine, it feeds on the berries.
Until 2003, B. salubricola has been often named Bonagota cranaodes when Brown and Razowski (2003) considered both names to be synonyms.
