Meloidogyne exigua Goeldi, 1887 - (coffee root-knot nematode)

Although several nematode species can infest coffee plants, Meloidogyne exigua is the most destructive one. It is common in Central and South America and also attacks various other crops. Yield losses on coffee can approach 50% (Barbosa et al., 2004).
