Betabaculovirus epaporemae (entomopathogen)
Assigned virus:
• Epinotia aporema granulovirus (EpapGV)
The Epinotia aporema granulovirus infects the bean shoot borer, Epinotia aporema, a serious pest of soybean in South America. The virus has a high specificity and pathogenicity and is of interest as a possible biological control agent. The occlusion bodies have an egg-like shape, with a size of around 470 x 300 nm (Sciocco-Cap et al., 2001). The genome has been found to contain 119,082 bp, encoding for 133 putative genes (Ferrelli et al., 2012).
