Betabaculovirus cryleucotretae (entomopathogen)
Assigned virus:
• Cryptophlebia leucotreta granulovirus (CrleGV)
The Cryptophlebia leucotreta granulovirus infects the false codling moth, Thaumatotibia leucotreta (syn. Cryptophlebia leucotreta), a pest of citrus, maize and other crops in Africa and other regions. It is commercially produced and can protect citrus orchards for around 4 months. Field trials on citrus showed that the virus performed equally well or better compared to chemical insecticides (Moore et al., 2015).
