Arge ochropus (Gmelin 1790) - (large rose sawfly)

This sawfly feeds on roses in Europe and northern parts of Asia. The young leaves and also the flowers are attacked. The young larvae are gregarious.

Head and thorax of the adults are mostly black but the sides of the thorax and the abdomen are orange to brownish.
