Agistemus Summers, 1960
This genus is widely distributed and contains around 30 species of predators mites. The adults are typically yellowish or bright red. They have been reported to prey on phytophagous mites (spider mites and eriophyid mites) as well as on eggs and crawlers of scale insects. For example, Agistemus exsertus is found in Africa, Asia and Europe on various crops. It has been studied in Egypt as a biological control agent of spider mites (Momen, 2011).
