Syrphus (predators) Fabricius, 1775

This genus includes more than 50 species of predatory hover flies that feed on aphids in their larval stages. The adult flies feed on nectar and pollen. Several species are useful natural enemies of aphid pests. For example, Syrphus ribesii is widely distributed in temperate regions, where the larvae prey on various aphid species.
