Striga Lour (1790) - (witchweeds)
This is a genus of hemiparasitic weeds with nearly 30 species. These cause extensive damage to crops, particularly cereals, in Africa and Asia. Through the use of haustoria, the weeds deprive their host roots of water and minerals.
