Sclerotinia homoeocarpa F.T. Benn. (1937)

The fungus is widely distributed and causes dollar spot disease on different types of turf grasses. It enters the plant through wounds and stomata or by forming appressoria. The symptoms include straw-colored, hourglass-shaped lesions with characteristic reddish-brown borders.

Patches of diseased grasses grow to a diameter of about 2.5 cm and neighbouring patches can merge. Only asexual spores have been observed but infertile apothecia are produced.
