Scaphoideus Uhler, 1889
This genus of leafhoppers has a wide distribution and contains about 150 species. Several are vectors of phytoplasmas. The North American species Scaphoideus titanus has invaded Europe and become an important vector of the flavescence dorée phytoplasma in grapevines. The genus is characterized by the venation of the forewings and the morphology of the male genitalia.
