Rhagoletis suavis (Loew, 1862) - (walnut husk maggot)

This species is considered a minor pest of black walnut (Juglans nigra) in North America. It breeds in the husk of the developing nuts, causing premature nut drop as well as unmarketable nuts.

See also the closely related and economically more important walnut husk fly, Rhagoletis completa.
