Pospiviroid (genus)

This is the type genus of the family Pospiviroidae, viroids similar to the Potato spindle tuber viroid (PSTV), with a central conserved region (CCR), without hammerhead ribozymes and replicating inside the nucleus. There are 10 species in the genus and most infect solanaceous crops. Members of this genus contain between 356 and 360 nucleotides and have at least 90% sequence similarity with PSTV, the type member of the genus.
