Portulaca L. (purslane)

The genus Portulaca contains around 70 species. Some are used as ornamentals and others are edible. The most important weed is common purslane, Portulaca oleracea. The species are herbs and are common in tropical and subtropical regions. They often have fleshy leaves and conspicuous, axillary trichomes.
