Abstract: During 2014, watermelon plants (Citrullus lanatus) grown in Spain were observed with symptoms of necrosis of leaves, stems, and fruits. The presence of Melon necrotic spot virus was demonstrated in the symptomatic plants using specific antisera, PCR analysis and nucleotide sequencing.
