First report of ´Candidatus Phytoplasma solani' strains associated with grapevine bois noir in Jordan
Plant Disease 97 (11), 1505-1505
Abstract: During 2012, grapevine plants (Vitis vinifera) grown in Jordan were observed with symptoms of leaf discoloration and curling, berry shriveling, and irregular maturation of wood. DNA was extracted from symptomatic plants and analyzed by PCR using phytoplasma specific primers. The presence of a phytoplasma was demonstrated in the symptomatic plants and the PCR product was cloned and sequenced. Sequence analysis showed the presence (> 99.5% sequence identity) of a phytoplasma belonging to `Candidatus Phytoplasma solani' (subgroup 16SrXII-A).
