First report of Shallot virus X in onion in Sudan

Abstract: During 2010, onion (Alium cepa) plants grown in the Sudan were observed with symptoms of mild mottling. The presence of Shallot virus X was demonstrated in the symptomatic plants using specific antisera, PCR analysis and nucleotide sequencing.
