First report of ascochyta blight of field pea caused by Ascochyta pisi in South Dakota
Plant Disease 94 (6), 789-789
Abstract: During 2008, field peas (Pisum sativum) grown in South Dakota (U.S.A.) were observed with symptoms of tan leaf lesions with distinct dark brown margins and small pycnidia. The fungus Ascochyta pisi was isolated from the diseased plants. The identification was based on morphological characteristics and ITS sequence analysis. Pathogenicity of the isolates was demonstrated by inoculation and re-isolation.
