First report of Verticillium wilt caused by Verticillium dahliae on lettuce in Italy

Abstract: During 2006, lettuce plants grown in northern Italy were observed with wilt symptoms. The fungus Verticillium dahliae was consistently isolated from the diseased plants. Pathogenicity of the isolates was demonstrated by inoculation.
