Abstract: During 1999, rye (Secale cereale) plants grown in Denmark were observed with symptoms of yellow leaf mosaic and light stunting. The presence of soilborne rye mosaic virus was demonstrated in the symptomatic plants using specific antisera, electron microscopy and nucleotide sequencing.
