Phyla (weeds) Lour.

The genus contains around one dozen species of herbs, all except one are native to tropical and subtropical parts of the Americas. Two species are regarded as agricultural and environmental weeds. For example, Phyla nodiflora forms mats and is regarded as invasive in some tropical areas. The species of Phyla were originally classified under the genus Lippia.
