Pheidole megacephala (Fabricius) - (big-headed ant)

The ant is native to sub-Saharan Africa, but has invaded various other regions. It protects some mealybugs and scales from predators and is also an urban pest. It is further an aggressive competitor and usually displaces native ant species.
