Oenopia Mulsant, 1850
This genus of ladybird beetles is found in different parts of Europe, Asia, Australia and Africa. The species feed mainly on aphids and other sucking insects like psyllids. Oenopia conglobata is a common predator of aphids and psyllids in Europe and western Asia.
The adults are 3-6 mm long with a hemispherical shape. Common colour patterns are a yellowish or reddish background with numerous spots, or black with no or few spots. The genus is characterized by the structure of the male and female genitalia.
