Mecinus Germar, 1821

This genus of weevils contains around 50 species and is widespread in temperate regions. Several species are considered biological control agents of weeds. For example Mecinus janthinus has been introduced from Europe into North America against invasive toadflax weeds (1991-1999), genus Linaria.

Currently, the following species have been entered into the system:
