Lepidoptera (hygenic/medical pests)

Moths in the order of Lepidoptera are mainly known as plant pests. However, some are regarded as health hazards due to the urticating hairs of caterpillars or adult moths. In addition, several species are both pests of trees and of medical concern, for example the pine processionary moth or the oak processionary moth in Europe.
