Laricobius erichsoni (predator) Rosenhauer 1846

This species is native to Europe. It has been imported into North America as a biological control agent against the balsam woolly adelgid, Adelges piceae. More than 100,000 beetles have been released between 1951 and 1968 into Canada and the U.S.A. It became established but has not been recorded since 1978.
