Heterotermes tenuis (Hagen, 1858)

This termite is found in South and Central America, including parts of the Caribbean. It is a significant agricultural and structural pest. For example, it damages sugarcane, tree crops and plantation trees. In addition, it infests wooden structures in buildings, especially wood in contact with the ground. The nests are simple networks of galleries in the wood and the soil.
