Fannia conspicua Malloch, 1913 - (canyon fly)

This fly is a serious nuisance pest in parts of south-western North America which feeds on body secretions of humans like tears, mucus, sweat, saliva and blood from open wounds (e.g. Zhang et al. 2015). The larvae develop in leaf litter.
