Diaporthe subordinaria (weed pathogen) (Desm.) R.R. Gomes, C. Glienke & Crous 2013
This fungus is widely distributed in Europe and is also found in some other regions. It causes a stem disease on Plantago lanceolata. The pathogen apparently enters through the spike and infections spread down the stem to the rosette, often killing the plant (Linders, 1996). The stalks of the plants become dark and turn downwards. Outbreaks of the disease can develop under field conditions.
