Cyrtorhinus lividipennis (predator) Reuter - (green mirid bug)

The bug is an important and common predator of eggs of the brown planthopper (Nilaparvata lugens) in Asia. The brown planthopper lays its eggs into slits in the stem of rice plants and the mirid bug searches for them by tapping its antennae against the stem. It then suck out the egg content. It can also prey on the eggs of other leaf- and planthoppers. The adult is around 3mm long, light green with a spotted pronotum.
