Cryphonectria mycoviruses (antagonist)

Several mycoviruses infect the fungi of the genus Cryphonectria. Above all, the chestnut blight fungus Cryphonectria parasitica. The Cryphonectria parasitica hypoviruses (CHVs) from the family Hypoviridae have been most thoroughly studied and are described separately. They hypoviruses are of practical importance in suppressing the destructive blight disease.

This page deals with a number of other mycoviruses infecting Cryphonectria species, in particular the "Mycoreovirus 1", also isolated from hypovirulent strains of C. parasitica. It is the type species of the genus Mycoreovirus from the family Reoviridae.
