Chrysobalanus (crop)

This is a genus of shrubs and small trees. Chrysobalanus icaco (cocoplum) is a shrub growing in tropical parts of the Americas. The fruits have been eaten in pre-Columbian times. The leaves are poisonous, but are used for preparing medicinal products. The plant is also sometimes used as an ornamental.
