Carabidae (crop pests)

The large family of Carabidae contains more than 40,0000 species of mainly predatory beetles. They are often important biological control agents and feed for example on pest arthropds or pest slugs. Some species might feed on seeds and some of these are also regarded as beneficial when they feed on seeds of weeds. Some others feed on crop seeds like strawberries and are then considered pests. This page and the list below refers to the latter group.
