Cantharellales - Rhizoctonia (antagonists)

The Cantharellales are an order of fungi which includes important plant disease agents like the common potato pathogen Rhizoctonia solani, see the page pathogenic Cantharellales for the crop diseases. This page deals with antagonistic forms which can colonise the roots of crops and protect them from infections by pathogens. The order is mainly characterised by the DNA structure of its members.

Among the genus Rhizoctonia mainly strains of antagonistic binucleate Rhizoctonia strains have been studied, in particular as antagonists of diseases caused by Rhizoctonia solani.

The following genera and individual species of antagonists are currently entered under this order:
