Boletales

This order of fungi includes more than 1000 species. Many form the typical fruiting bodies of mushrooms and several species are edible (some are also poisonous). Several species are known as wood-rotting fungi and can infest timber or wooden structures. Coniophora puteana is an example of a wood rot fungus which can also attack living trees.
