The viruses of this genus are similar to Pothos latent virus and have isometric particles, in size and structure typical for Tombusviridae. The genome consists of a single-stranded, positive-sense RNA with 5 ORFs. The members are soil-borne viruses transmissable by sap inoculation. For at least one member of the genus the natural mode of transmission involves the fungus Olpidium bornovanus.
