Aphanomyces euteiches Drechsler

This oomycete causes root rot and dampening off on peas, beans and other legumes. In particular seedlings are affected. The symptoms include translucent lesions on the roots which turn into a brown rot. Frequently, most of the root system is infected and destroyed. Infections at a later stage can result in stunting. Plant death might follow. On pea the pathogen can cause complete crop loss.
