Anopheles pretoriensis (Theobald, 1903)

This mosquito is found in sub-Saharan Africa. It feeds mainly on different types of mammals, but has been occasionally reported to enter houses and to bite humans. A. pretoriensis is regarded as a vector of viruses infecting livestock and also as a possible malaria vector. Breeding has been recorded from various water bodies like pools, puddles, swamps, lakes, ditches and rivers.
