Agromyza Agromyza Fallén, 1810

This genus of leafminer flies is widely distributed and contains around 100 species, including some agricultural pests like Agromyza frontella which infests alfalfa.

The adult flies are around 2 mm long, typically black, sometimes with a reddish or yellowish frons and white or yellow halteres. The edge of the first tergite is finely serrated. Stridulation structures are found in both sexes, consisting of a file on the first abdominal segment and a scraper on the hind femur.
