Adelges japonicus (Monzen, 1929)
This adelgid is found in Japan, where it induces shoot galls on ezo-spruce Picea jezoensis and other spruce species. It typically does not change hosts and the life cycle involves only 2 generations on spruce (anholocyclic). However, sometimes it goes through the complete holocyclic life cycle like many other adelgids. In such cases, the secondary host is Larix kaempferi, see Sano et al. (2008) for details.
