Abutilon Miller 1754

This is a large genus of herbs and shrubs with about 200 species. It contains the important weed velvetleaf. The genus is characterized by the hairy leaves and stems, the heart-shaped leaves and the bell-shaped yellow or orange flowers with 5 petals joined at the base. The fruit capsule can contain up to 20 segments.
