First report of verticillium wilt of artichoke caused by Verticillium dahliae in Tunisia

Abstract: During a survey for Verticillium wilt in Tunisia in 2006, cultivated artichoke (Cynara scolymus) plants were observed with symptoms of stunting, yellowing, wilting, desiccation of the leaves and few, small, deformed buds. The fungus Verticillium dahliae was isolated from the diseased plants. The identification was based on morphological characteristics. Pathogenicity of the isolates was demonstrated by inoculation.
