First report of Puccinia kuehnii, causal agent of orange rust of sugarcane, in Guatemala
Plant Disease 92 (6), 973-973
Abstract: During 2007, sugarcane (Saccharum hybrid) plants grown in Guatemala were observed with symptoms of orange rust. The fungus Puccinia kuehnii was isolated from the diseased plants. The identification was based on morphological characteristics and ITS sequence analysis. Thirteen cultivars were rated as to their relative resistance using severity of orange rust symptoms.
