Elaeagnaceae (weeds) - (oleaster family)

The family includes between 50 and 100 species of small trees and shrubs. Some are invasive and weedy like the Russian olive. The plants are typically thorny, with simple leaves which are often coated with tiny scales or hairs. Usually drier habitats are preferred.
