Branchiopoda

This group includes mainly small fresh water crustaceans, characterized by the legs bearing gills at their base. The tadpole shrimps from the genus Triops belong to this group. They are known as pests of rice fields because they disturb and uproot the seedlings. They have been also studied as biocontrol agents of mosquitoes. This page deals with agricultural pests.
